Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Well, just when we thought our Richmond temperatures were fairly mild for January, along comes a winter storm just to remind us that it truly is Winter.  While we should have a nice day on Thursday, Friday night brings much colder temperatures and snow is in the forecast for the weekend. There are even flood warnings in Chesterfield and Henrico so be careful out there.

If you have any problems with your home’s furnace, boiler or other heating system, don’t forget that the team at Marshall Mechanical is available to you by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. The emergency phone number for heating or plumbing problems, service and repair is the same as our regular number. Simply call 804.323.0189 whenever you need emergency assistance.

Need Sump Pump Repair? Have Blocked Floor Drains? Flooded Basement? If the heavy rains have caused an emergency situation at your Richmond home, call our Master Plumbers anytime at 804.323.0189

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

We’re hearing many bad weather storm reports including flooding and power outages, especially east of Richmond with the after effects of Hurricane Ida.  Rain reports from NBC12 show that nearby areas have received several inches of rain already, and the storm is barely slowing down.  As of this posting, Dominion Virginia Power says it has 43,000 customers without power, many of them in the Richmond and Tri-Cities area.

Heavy rains have not only caused flood warnings from North Carolina to New York but Gov. Kaine declared Virginia a state of emergency on Wednesday.  The USGS’s Real-Time report shows the James River closing in on 8-feet.

We have already received several calls today from homeowners either concerned about whether their sump pump is working properly or with failed sump pumps and flooded basements.  In many cases, we can repair the sump pump fairly easily.

It is critical for homeowners to understand that if their gas appliance furnace, water heater, boiler or oil burners get submerged at all, they must not just “let it dry out” and turn it back on.  There have been reports that some equipment under these circumstances can explode and have even caused death.  Certain types of equipment are required by law to be replaced if submerged in water.

When flooding happens, IMMEDIATELY call your Richmond area Master Plumbers at Marshall Mechanical for an evaluation.  We are here 24/7/365 for all your plumbing and emergency needs including repair of broken sump pumps, cleaning of blocked or clogged floor drains, installing a backwater valve in your floor drain, fixing of broken pipes or whatever your plumbing need may be.  Even bringing a temporary sump pump to your home.  Simply call us at 804.323.0189.

We want to keep you and your family safe, warm and dry during the hurricane season. We’re available to help you with all your emergency plumbing needs and will provide sump pump service and protect your HVAC equipment, your home and, most importantly, you and your family.
